Description: Trainz Simulator 2 brings all new driving experiences, spectacular new high detailed content, the best world building tools and now comes with Multiplayer! Trianz Simulator 2 is the biggest and best 3D Train Simulator on Mac allowing you to Build and operate the railroad of your dreams. You can build a fun layout in minutes, faithfully recreate a steam railroad from days gone by or develop a fully fledged 100+ mile prototypical route; the choice is yours. Instructions are not adequate - The first problem is the instruction manual I down loaded doesn’t match my version for the MAC.

And I can not find another. I was even willing to buy a book to augment the manual but a search of the internet reveals no such book is available (??).

The next probelm is nothing is intuitive and I have yet to figure it out so that it is enjoyable to use. The simulator needs a road map to get through and many features are simply not covered anywhere. The “help” funciton I find useless. This may all be because the instructions are totally inadequate. Yes, I can run trains but some of the advertised features are not accesible by me because I can not find the controls for them. For example, I know the environment and time of day are changeable but are they in the Driver mode on a pre-programmed route? I can’t find a control that allows either to change in the Driver mode.

I am finding some or the wording in the Simulator and the instruction manual are not the English I know which can further confuse (I’m in the USA). The displayed detail, the running of trains, is all great but the instructions provided are a big problem, at least for me. Hey, No Fair! - FINALLY, someone put Philadelphia on the map. Philadelphia to Wilmington, Acela (Amtrak), a part of the Northeast Corridor. But just one way?

He plays with elements from Mac Miller delivers a much more focused effort than usual. There is a good sense of progression from song to song. He plays with elements from previous projects but each song sounds fresh and unique. There is a good sense of progression from song to song. Mac miller swimming tracklist.

Why no return trip? Better still, why not the whole Northeast Corridor, from DC to Boston?

Anyway, to be fair, this game is really cool. I’ve always wanted to drive a train. Now’s my chance.

I do have a few gripes, the aforementioned notwithstanding. I think a real U.S. City would have been better than a fictional one for the elevated transit system, plus it would have been cool to drive one of the trolley routes shown in that fictional city’s ads. Some subways would be nice, too (real cities), as would regional commuter lines. The graphics could have been better, although I don’t have them set on the highest setting, so I don’t know how much better it would be if I had the horsepower to run it (Mac Mini). It takes a while to get the hang of it, and the tutorials are great. Also, some ethnicity among the people would be nice, as would lifelike motions.

And why is it that (speaking of Acela) when I ran a couple of the passenger lines, my trains were empty? What’s up with that? All in all, despite my complaints, this game is cool enough to warrant a whopping 4 stars.

Easy 5 if I could get some subways, els and the Northeast Corridor! A Tremendous Layout Design Tool - I have not been active in model railroading since 1986. Now that I am again active in the hobby and plan on building my own layout I have found that Trainz 2 is a fantastic tool to design a layout and actually operate it before any benchwork is built and track is purchased. Trainz helps you focus your ideas to what actually works and helps avoid false starts and overly optimistic planning. In many ways, Trainz is like being able to test drive a car before you buy it.

It also makes it possible to duplicate published track plans to see what features are worth encorporating into your own layout. Makes me appreciate real railroads - I have a model railroad that I’ve been building in my basement. It’s a satisfying hobby and an enormous amount of work. Trainz is just about as satisfying, but with a lot of the effort taken out. No matter how much effort I put into my model, I’ll never be able to ride it. That’s probably the biggest thrill in Trainz — sitting in the cab. I really like the tutorials, which give you a good idea of the complexity of working on a railroad.

Trainz

The only room for improvement that I can see is with the graphics. There are some weird anomalies, such as the train showing shadows, but not any of the other objects (like bridges). I have a Mac Pro, and it usually has no problem with most games and simulations. But setting the graphics levels to anything but medium in Trainz makes the screen stutter.

Some of the sounds (like the horn) cut off abruptly. But outside of those gripes (and the fact that a few days after I bought it, N3V came out with a brand new version), it’s a pretty impressive piece of software with an impressive amount of detail.
