Line 6 Pod Xt Pro Drivers For Mac

Posted on

Line 6 was one of the first manufacturers to practically apply theprinciples of modeling to guitar-amp simulation. Though not the onlycompany to produce modeling devices, Line 6 distinguishes itself bycreating only products whose core technology is modeling.

I always use GearBox for edition on POD X3 PRO, it was so simple for moving presets from places to places, interchange them and copying, editing, save and restore. But now with the newest driver 7.3.6.

GearBox & PODX3PRO won't never work together. I've read on the website that GearBox is no longer available. Can't believe that, it is the best app. Have you explanations, or everything else to replace this app. I try to go back with an old driver but I can't do. Hope you can help me, or Line6 please to update GearBox.

I am VERY disappointed and depressed about line6 support. I've been a POD user for a decade, having changed POD 2, xt, X3. I can't believe this is the kind of support for thousands of people owning MACs (as the majority in audio engineering does). I am trying to find some kind of software that works for backing up patches, changing names, or searching through cabs and preamps. Unfortunately Gearbox needs a 'hack' to work on the latest MAC OS X with the latest driver provided by Line6 themselves.

This is really a shame for a company that has been trusted for many generations of PODs among musicians. Another thing is that Gearbox seems last updated.

Line6, really? There is a discussion on another string regarding Gearbox. The string started because X3 was causing the Mac to crash when plugged in using USB. Then the discussion morphed to people complaining that Gearbox isn't being supported. I started looking on other strings to see if there are others and I see that there are. Line 6 has chimed in to say that there are no plans to update Gearbox but I sure hope they do.

I got the X3 because it has all the bass amp/cab models. L6 doesn't make anything for bass players any more and I believe that it's a financial decision as they probably found that marketing to the guitar market is much more profitable than the bass market. Since they don't work in the bass arena anymore I hope they will put a little bit of time into updating Grearbox for some goodwill as I see that they have left many players in a tough position by not supporting the software that many of us use with our X3.

Just my thoughts. There is a discussion on another string regarding Gearbox. The string started because X3 was causing the Mac to crash when plugged in using USB.

(BP 355 is what you're after, a third of the price of the original cost of the X3L). GEARBOX IS ALIVE AGAIN! So I got the Gearbox partially working on Yosemite yesterday. Today I think I managed to get it working all the way. The solution is a follows:.

Download and open Gearbox 3.72.dmg. Right click the GearBox.mpkg icon. Left click 'Show Package Contents'. Double click 'Contents' folder. Double click 'Packages' folder.

You should now see 10 individual packages. Install each one Note: If you previously installed Monkey with a newer driver, it will not allow you to install the drivers in this package. You will need to uninstall the newer drivers first, then you should be good to go. Search the forum for details on how to uninstall the drivers using command prompt.

Someone else posted instructions on how to do this. They also suggested another driver to use. I tried to install that one first and it wouldn't let me, so I ended up installing the drivers from the from the GearBox package above. Anyway, I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 on a MacBook Pro Retina, with a POD X3 Live, and so far it is working fine. No panic attacks. I was able to create and upload a tone to one of my user presets.

By the way, before this, I did update the firmware on the X3 using a a separate version of Monkey that I had downloaded previously. I am not sure is this have any relevance with regard to MAC and the X3 playing nicely together once I reinstalled the old drivers. I hope GearBox lives forever.why L6 has to rename it and constantly ignore it at times is a mystery, as its probably the strongest positive Ive read about Line 6.strange how businesses works sometimes? I guess reinventing yourself is required of all businesses, but is it that hard to keep something alive thats a foundation for a lot of happy customers, who then spread the word all over? I hope they maintain some type of free download of GEar Box, in addition to creating great new stuff. I was happy when I plugged in my X3Pro and kabooom!!

I understand that products do get old at some point Telling a customer that has spent nearly a $1000 on Pod X3 Pro & Floorboard II that theres no way to edit a patch on their pc/mac is like pissing on your paying customers It doesn't cost much to recompile a code base (I am a programmer) especially when the code in question makes use of open source libraries PNGLib. Etc etc (GearBox About.). Open source the editor so people can maintain it.

Or just document the api calls so people can get/set data to/from a pod unit. Or make their editor modular with plugins to support old & upcoming units I had considered looking at the Helix but after 2 bad experiences in a row with Line 6, I would not consider buying their products.

Its ironic that I get more support from Digitech on a used 2120 unit that I bought back in 2004.now thats customer service.and I'm not even a professional musician.just an average guy who like to play guitar once in a while. Another thing is that Gearbox seems last updated. Line6, really? Yeah it sucks.

I have also Live XT for about ten year. Works great, solid as rock, hardware done great, but software support sucks. Like others, I'm horrified at the lack of love for loyal customers. Sorry but making any comments about the world moving on, aka OS vendors updating their operating systems is just stupid. At the end of the day, Line6 has decided to stop supporting their product.

Probably because they want you to buy their new product, and this is their strategy. What you buy today will be supported for a year, and then you need to buy the next version. While the product still works (in my case a POD X3 Live), I can't edit it any more easily - I miss GearBox. Which just boggles my mind. Why can't I save POD Farm patches to my X3? It's what, a couple of lines of code to enable this? Sure kill off Gearbox, which btw was awesome, but replace it with nothing???

My pain is that I want a solution. Bake it into one of your supported and developed products if you're adamant to kill of GearBox. Please come up with a sensible solution.

I posted here a while back but can't find my original post anywhere to refer to. I bought a used Pod XT Pro in mint condition, works very well.

I want to update the firmware because the existing version on my unit is only 1.02 and the latest version is 3.02, I believe. Someone mentioned that I wouldn't be able to update the firmware through USB with an existing firmware version this low and that I had to be connected through MIDI. I'm not sure if this is correct or not. I currently don't have my XT Pro connected by USB or MIDI, just via the two 1/4' line outs. I have the latest version of the Line 6 Monkey on my Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I don't want to wreck anything here, sorry for the newbie question. Can I update via USB and if not, if I do have to use MIDI, do I need both MIDI in and MIDI out connected to my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 or can I just use the MIDI out from the XT Pro to the MIDI in of the Focusrite? I've only got one cable as I don't use MIDI very much. This isn't explained in the user's guide.

Thanks in advance. Since your pod has v 1.xx installed, a midi to usb is necessary for further updates. Get a m-audio midisport uno. Others may be used but line6 recommends this specifically.

They are about $40 dollars and if you have no other use.paperweight. But ya gotta do what'cha gotta do.

Then usb to mini usb. Q: My unit cannot update via USB, and I have Flash Memory 1.0x. How do I update from Flash Memory 1.0x to a newer version? A: First verify you have flash memory 1.0x. Please hit the TUNER button and scroll using the SELECT knob to the last page.

If you have a version later than 1.0x, you can use your USB connection. In order to update your PodXt from version 1.0x to the latest version, you will need to download Line 6 monkey (as described above) as well as a MIDI to USB interface. We recommend the MIDI SPORT UNO from M-AUDIO.

Install the drivers for your interface, then run LINE 6 MONKEY with your POD XT unit connected to your interface. Click on the CONNECT USING MIDI CABLES button, and make sure that you see the MIDI IN and MIDI OUTS set to your interface. Then go through the FLASH MEMORY installation as described above. After this is done, you will be able to update your PODxt series unit using USB. See the following link for more information on connecting to your Line 6 unit via Midi. I would recommend both cables, because monkey may not detect it with one. But try it, If monkey sees it, it should be fine.

Certainly try the USB upgrade first. I think that the USB capability was enabled from the factory on those. It's only the bean shaped ones that have the midi limitation (If i'm correct here) keep in mind if you bought it used and it had any model packs. You will lose those when you reflash.OK, I'll try the USB connection from the back of the Pod XT Pro directly into my Mac first and see if that works. Not sure if I have any modeling packs or not, still quite new to this thing although I know my Pod XT 2 'bean' quite well.

How do I tell if I have modeling packs? You might install line6 monkey and the drivers ahead of time.

Both will be required to flash. Connected the Pod XT Pro directly to my Mac's USB ports (not through any type of interface). I installed the latest drivers (7.2.8 I think) through Line 6 Monkey. I was able to update the USB firmware to 1.1.4 but the actual Pod XT firmware update to 3.0.2 wouldn't work.

Kept giving me a MIDI Device not communicating error. So I guess I have to connect both in and out MIDI cables. Just not sure about having to use a Midisport. If I'm connected through USB and run the MIDI through my Focusrite (Firewire), shouldn't that still work? I don't even have a USB/MIDI interface. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. Should work with any midi interface. However line6 uses the m-audio UNO internally and test with/recommend it. I'd get you another cable and try your current interface before spending @40$ on another.

That's what I thought, I prefer FireWire interfaces over USB as do many others due to the latency issues. This should work with my Focusrite so I'll go grab another MIDI cable and give it a try. Amazing what this rack mount Pod XT can do, so much cleaner and quieter than my XT 'bean' although no match for my Krankenstein 100. I (finally) successfully updated my firmware to 3.0.2 - it took some doing and required a MIDI connection and worked via FireWire but it wouldn't save any presets, kept giving me a MIDI communication error so I chose not to save anything and it then did the update without any problems. Not saving the presets was ok by me because my original goal was to restore the original sounds anyway. Is there anyone out there with a rack mount Pod Xt Pro who can tell me what the first 64 factory presets should be (1A to 16D)?

Line 6 Pod Pro Manual

What the names should be? Seems that my set is different than what I've read. Perhaps there is a way to restore the unit back to its factory presets but I thought the new firmware update might have added some new presets - a tad bit confused here. I can't seem to find anything that says Treadplate for example. Thanks for any help. I had no modelling packs by the way.

Unit starts up and now says something about 'loading standard sets' which it didn't do before the update from 1.0.2 to 3.0.2.
